The challenge
Beachfront Palms Resort, a well-positioned mid-market coastal property located along the historic Seawall Boulevard in Galveston, Texas, faced a distinct positioning hurdle. While it offered the quintessential sun-and-surf getaway directly overlooking the Gulf of Mexico, its legacy brand visual identity was defined by highly dated typography and neon-heavy retro branding, and clashed with the expectations of modern travellers. The existing brand aesthetic failed to present the hotel as a curated coastal destination.
Our hospitality branding agency received a clear mandate: evolve the hotel's logo to elevate its market presence while ensuring the brand remains welcoming and accessible. The new visual identity needed to capture the carefree, nostalgic spirit of an authentic beach escape while paying homage to the local Texas coastline, grounding the property with a distinct sense of place.

We abandoned generic palm tree illustrations in favour of something deeply authentic to the region's specific ecosystem. Our creative team studied the architectural silhouette of the Sabal texana (the Texas Sabal palm), a resilient, heavy-crowned palm native to the Gulf Coast area. We isolated its sweeping, geometric fronds and distilled them into a crisp, minimised line-art icon. This custom emblem anchors the new hotel brand identity with an organic, hyper-local signature that instantly communicates Galveston’s unique coastal narrative.
To replace the dated, legacy colour palette, we introduced a sophisticated, sun-drenched system. We paired a commanding oceanic deep navy with warm, sandy neutrals and a soft, sun-baked terracotta accent. For the typography, we swapped the heavy, retro lettering for an elegant, high-contrast editorial serif for the primary wordmark, supported by a clean, geometric sans-serif. This balance conveys instant authority while keeping the brand completely welcoming and family-friendly.
To protect the integrity of the new assets, we codified the entire visual ecosystem into a robust brand guidelines blueprint. This document defines strict parameters for colour distribution, typographic hierarchy, and digital asset formatting, ensuring a flawless and uniform presentation across the resort’s booking engine, social media channels, and guest collateral.
A major component of our hospitality marketing strategy involved translating this digital prestige into physical architecture along Galveston's bustling Seawall. We conceptualised and designed the property’s external signage to maximise drive-by visibility. For the main roadside marquee, we deployed a solid, deep navy background block. This intentional contrast allows the clean white typography and terracotta palm icon to vividly pop from afar—capturing the attention of coastal motorists while providing a luxurious, premium first impression before check-in.
The result
The comprehensive rebrand successfully transitioned Beachfront Palms Resort out of its dated legacy aesthetic and into a commanding hotel brand positioning within the mid-market hospitality sector. The property now strikes the perfect balance: it looks notably more elevated and design-conscious, yet remains entirely accessible and inviting to its core demographic.
